PHOTOGRAPHY I FOR TEENS

Ages 11-15

Calling all shutterbugs! Come join us this summer to learn the fundamentals of color photography including composition, portraiture, landscape and even a little fashion photography. Classes will include critiques and photo exhibitions around Golden Gate Park. Each student will have the opportunity to create a final portfolio that will be a compilation of their favorite and most successful photographs taken during the class. Students must bring their own 35mm camera or disposable camera. Film, film processing and portfolio-making materials w

PHOTOGRAPHY 2: Focus on Photojournalism

Instructor: Ariel Soto
Ages 11-15
 

Want to learn what it's like to be a professional photojournalist? Photojournalism is photography that creates images in order to tell a story, either about a social, political or personal event that is going on in the community. Instructor Ariel Soto is a photojournalist in San Francisco for the SF Bay Guardian and SFWeekly and will be sharing her skills with each student so they can learn to take the fundamental types of images used in photojournalism, such as features, news and sports photography. Classes will include critiques and field trips in order to capture these exciting photographs. Each student will have the opportunity to create a final portfolio or a photojournalism zine that will be a compilation of their favorite
and most successful photographs taken during the class. Students must bring their own disposable camera, 35mm or digital camera. Film, film processing and portfolio-making materials will be provided.

DEVELOP YOUR DRAWING SKILLS

Improve your art skills by exploring various art media such as pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolor and acrylic paints. Drawing techniques for shading, perspective, contour drawing and portraits will be taught. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced students welcome.

ILLUSTRATION FOR TEENS: Character Design

Instructor: Dawood Marion
Ages 11-18
 

?Learn how the characters in your favorite movies, video games, cartoons and comics were created. Students learn how to conceptualize and present their dream characters in a well thought out and professional manner. Additional subjects will include the thought process before the sketch, use of thumbnails, lighting, use of pencil and pen, reference material, dealing with clients, time management, finding and charging for work and up-to-date industry information in the entertainment field. Also covered: color and contrast, "kit bash" and rendering with Photoshop, Students will learn from in-class drawing demos and lectures. Materials included.

DROP-IN ART CLASSES
FOR YOUTH ON SUNDAYS!

AGES 3-10

Strolling in the park and suddenly feel like making craft projects with your child? Come join the fun!
We now have two drop-in classes for young kids and their parents on Sunday mornings, from 10 to 11, and then 11:30 to 12:30. Different projects, including card making, Japanese style fish kites, and little picture frames will be discovered each Sunday.
