Art has been used intentionally as a vehicle to foster healing and find meaning for over 64,000 years. In this experiential workshop, art therapist and psychotherapist Leandra Lehmann will share about the field of art therapy, including vast benefits to promote healing and wellbeing.
Participants will engage in several creative practices that may support emotional awareness, relaxation and insight- including a body map drawing, creating an inner sanctuary, and a self-care wheel. Somatic grounding, meditation and journaling prompts will be woven in to support connection to intuition and deeper presence. Folks will be invited to adopt a curious, open-minded, and compassionate mindset, and release self-criticisms along the way. Emphasis is not on what participants make, but on the process of creatively connecting with one's self to discover new understandings.
Participants do not need to be “good artists” or have artistic or meditation experience to benefit from this workshop. Though the workshop does not provide any form of therapy, Leandra’s hope is participants will leave with some tools and insight to find calm and stress-relief.
All materials provided. Ages 16 and up are welcome.
This event is sponsored by the members of Friends of Sharon Art Studio.
