Summer Camps for Teens & Tweens
Made possible by members and donors of Friends of Sharon Art Studio
Ceramics
This half-day camp meets Monday through Thursday for 3-weeks and is for youth interested in exploring a variety of ceramic techniques, including hand building, throwing on the wheel, surface texture, and glazing. Previous experience is not required, but projects require the ability to focus and follow multi-step procedures. Attendance is mandatory each day and important to the completion of artwork. Materials are included in the price of the camp. This camp does not offer extended care. This morning camp is offered for teens in June and for tweens in July.
Jewelry & Metal Arts
This half-day camp meets Monday through Thursday for 3-weeks and is for campers interested in exploring techniques in jewelry and metal arts. Both beginning and intermediate level students are welcome. Beginning students will be introduced to the basic skills of professional jewelry making and metalsmithing, and returning students will dive deeper into techniques to create unique pieces such as pendants, earrings and rings as well as 3-D objects made of copper and brass. Previous experience is not required, but projects require the ability to focus and follow multi-step procedures. Attendance is mandatory each day and important to the completion of artwork. Materials are included in the price of the camp.
Fine Arts
This half-day camp meets Monday through Thursday for 3-weeks and is for youth interested in fine art! This camp gives young artists the opportunity to create amazing portfolio pieces and make friends among other art fans of their age. Campers will explore a variety of techniques and gain new skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media (such as collage, assemblage, and printmaking). Previous experience is not required, but projects require the ability to focus and follow multi-step procedures. Attendance is mandatory each day and important to the completion of artwork. Materials are included in the price of the camp. Based on parent and student feedback we are making this a combined age group (11-17). This allows for more day and time options.
